Color Mixing Coffee Filters

blue and yellow tempera paint (or food colors), water, coffee filters (cut into shamrock shape)

Description

Good project for theme on color mixing.

Mix PRIMARY color paint (red, blue, yellow) and water in a individual containers.  Let children use eyedroppers or brushes to drip TWO colors on the coffee filter. The colors will run together and make a new color.   

VARIATIONS

1)  Cut shamrock shape out of coffee filters for St. Patrick's Day or multi-cultural theme on Ireland (mix yellow and blue paint to make green).
2)  Cut pumpkin or leaf shapes out of coffee filters for Fall / Halloween (mix red and yellow paint to make orange).
